Monday, February 28th, 2005 - I want to send out a big congrats to Clint Eastwood for cleaning up last night at the Academy Awards. Winning Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor is a nice capstone for a wonderful career (and a wonderful movie). I hope Clint has many more years of movie making in him. He really does excellent work. Remember the other day when I said that Rick Berman and Brannon Braga killed Trek? Apparently I spoke too soon... Paramount's going to produce Star Trek XI and release it in 2007. Let me guess... They don't want to let all of the Enterprise sets go to waste? Ugh... Quit while you're ahead, boys, and give Star Trek a five or ten year hiatus. You're only going to make it worse. Thanks for stopping by... More soon, I'm sure. |

Saturday, February 26th, 2005 - I can't believe I haven't said anything about this yet, but I want to send out a big thanks to Rick Berman and Brannon Braga for effectively killing Star Trek as a franchise. UPN has cancelled the show, and frankly, I'm surprised it took this long.
The show, until recently, has been downright offensive to any fan of the Original Series. They pretty much pissed on the ashes of the Original Series by basically pretending that EVERYTHING set forth by Kirk and comany doesn't (or never will, since it's a prequel) exist. Failure to adhere to the original source material, in my opinion, is a big reason for the show's failure. Pissing off true Trek fans in favor of trying to scare up some mythical "new audience" is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. And what's the deal with using Enterprise to launch UPN as a network? Are you telling me that no other network would put Star Trek on the air? Don't get wrong, the pure "suckage" of the show is a big reason there are no viewers, but come on...the highest rated show on UPN is still NOTHING compared to a show on a real network. Hell, they'd be better off on the Sci-Fi channel! Star Trek: Nemesis didn't help matters, either. Thanks to that steaming pile, I doubt there will be another Star Trek film for at least ten years. Again, thanks Brannon and Rick! You guys f***ing rock! And what is the response to the death of Trek? The fans are protesting outside the Paramount lot as we speak...all 100 of them! Yes, that's right...of the millions and millions of Star Trek fans worldwide, the cancellation of Enterprise could only muster about 100 protestors...in the city of Los Angeles!!!! Christ. You could scare up that many protestors by trying to shut down a McDonald's!!!!.. What's that whirring sound? Oh...that's Gene Roddenberry spinning in his grave. Nice going, Berman and Braga! You guys need to stand up and take a bow... The best thing you guys could do for Star Trek right now is fire yourselves and let someone...anyone else take over. End Rant. |

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005 - I've been doing a bit of "cleanup" here in Kenn's World. I've archived all of the news from May, 2004 - November, 2004, which pretty much chopped this front page down to nothing. Oh, well... That will give me an excuse to update more often, right? Yeah, right... I've also made a few other tweaks, here and there...updating copyright info (to 2005) and trying to change all of my e-mail addresses away from @ravensoft.com and over to my Hotmail or G-Mail accounts. I updated my About Me page, as well. The changes are long overdue, but better late than never, right? Let's see...what else is going on? I went to see Million Dollar Baby last week and it was AMAZING! It was better than I thought it would be, despite all of the (well deserved) hype. Normally I really hate the Academy Awards (Read: I think they're a flippin' joke!), but I may actually watch them this year to pull for Clint Eastwood and this fantastic film. If you haven't seen it yet, I'd recommend it.
I also went to see Constantine this past week. Talk about a surprising film! I truly expected to hate it and I sat there waiting for the wheels to fall off, but they never did. Keanu Reeves was solid and so was the entire film. A word of warning, though...apparently there is something AFTER the credits. I didn't stay, so I missed it. Don't make the same mistake! I'm actually thinking about going to see it again to find out...and because it was good, overall.
On a personal note, I'm really considering quitting smoking (again). If I embark on the quest, I'll be sure to put up a "Kenn Quit Smoking" section so you can follow my progres... I'm sure it will consist of me breaking things and saying things to my my dog like, "Maybe I'll start my own dead pool and put you on it!" Oh yeah... You don't want to be around when I don't have nicotine. And neither does my dog... =) One more thing...congrats to my good friend Karyn, who recently won a brand new Corvette, playing Bingo! of all things! Read all about it at Karyn's Blog. Way to go, girl! Anyway, thanks for stopping by! More soon, I'm sure... |

Friday, February 4th, 2005 - Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. Yes, I'm still alive and well. Not a whole lot going on for me right now in the grand scheme of things. I went and saw Elektra when it was out in theaters. Ugh... Don't bother! I wouldn't even rent that steaming pile. Slow. Plodding. Boring. Poorly acted. And those were the GOOD things about the film. Steer clear... Speaking of shitty movies...what's up with Alone In The Dark? You spend $20,000,000 on a movie and you can't even break the $3 million mark or the top 10 on opening weekend? Oh, that's right... Uwe Boll directed it. Say no more. Maybe they should give him Hulk 2? The movie currently has a 1.9 user rating on IMDB and a 1% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. I think both scores are generous. Hopefully I'll have some more updates soon. I've been working on a Hunter drinking game in honor of Season 1's release on DVD... I have a few other things in the works as well. As Sgt. Rick Hunter would say, "Works for me." Thanks for stopping by! |

Saturday, January 1st, 2005 - Happy New Year, everyone! I hope everyone's 2005 is better than their 2004's were... I know I'm very much looking forward to the new year. Happy Holidays! |

Wednesday, December 1st, 2004 - I had lunch with a couple of "Friends" of mine today and we somehow got on the subject (my fault) of Why I Don't Play The Game of Life Anymore. This latest tale of woe is written in the same, time-honored tradition as my earlier Why I Don't Play Chess Anymore rant. I hope my pain brings you joy... =) Both stories are permanently linked in my Musings Section. Happy December, everyone! |
