Thursday, April 15th, 2004 - Well, Wisconsin sports fans everywhere must be cursing my name at the top of their lungs. After a 3 - 1 Start, the Milwaukee Brewers have managed to drop to 5 - 5 while giving up home run record tying and record breaking home runs to Barry Bonds. *sigh* Business as usual... The Milwaukee Bucks, on the other hand, were the picture of ineptitude this week. They had the #4 seed and home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs LOCKED UP! All they had to do was win ONE out of THREE games against average or outright crappy teams! You think they could do it? Nope... They drop all the way to the sixth seed and have to face the Detroit Pistons, possibly the hottest, toughest team in the East, in the first round. Good Lord... They'd have been better off dropping to seventh or eighth so they could have played New Jersey or Indiana. *double sigh* Fortunately, I'm not a fair weather fan. The Brew Crew intrigues me this year and I'm always excited for the NBA playoffs. I certainly think the Bucks are capable of beating Detroit. If they do, they'd likely face New Jersey in Round 2. That matchup would probably be pretty even, too. I don't know... I won't get TOO optimistic yet. If nothing else, I hope the Bucks take the Pistons to seven games. I added an update to my WTF? Page recently. I'm sure more will follow... More ranting and raving soon... |

Thursday, April 8th, 2004 - Now it's not another week gone, it's another Month! Happy April, everyone... Spring is threatening to spring here in the frozen tundra. We were taunted by a week of good weather and now it's going to get chilly again. I can't wait until the weather makes up its mind... I've archived December and January's news. The page should load much faster now... Baseball season is off and running. I've been a Milwaukee Brewers fan my whole life, despite their annual ineptitude. Generally, I follow baseball closely for the first month or two. By then, the Brewers are 10 plus games back out of first and then I don't have to worry about it anymore. But, hope springs eternal... Speaking of which, I figured I'd better take a picture of this:
I don't know how long first place will last (probably not long), but it's nice to see that the Richie Sexson trade appears it's going to work out. An interesting note... The Brewers' entire payroll this year is around $30 million. I saw a list of five players today making $20 million or more EACH. Nice, eh? Baseball needs revenue sharing and a salary cap. That's all there is to it... While we're on the sports subject, congratulations to Terry Porter and his Milwaukee Bucks, who've made it back into the playoffs and "should" get the number 4 seed in the East along with home court advantage for the first round. Nice work, guys!
Speaking of work...I should get back to it. Thanks for stopping by! |
