ABOUT ME

I was born, Kenn Edward Hoekstra, on October 1st, 1973 in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, the fourth child (of five) of Kenneth Lee Hoekstra and Patricia Edith Hoekstra (Murphy). I have three sisters (Carmen, Lee Ann and Kelly) and a brother (Patrick Jon). My family moved to Adams, Wisconsin when I was about two years old and I have lived and worked in Wisconsin ever since. I attended school in the Adams-Friendship district until 6th grade, at which time I transferred to Lincoln School. I remained at Lincoln for three years, then returned to Adams-Friendship for High School. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from A-F High in 1991.

Upon completion of High School, I attended the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater from 1991 - 1995 and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in English Writing with a Minor in History.

From 1995 - 1996 I worked a variety of odd jobs, including stints at Hardee's restaurant and Toys 'R' Us. In January of 1996 I became the manager of the Graham Street Cafe, a deli on the UW-Whitewater campus. I manged the GSC until early 1997.

In February of 1997, I joined Raven Software as a level designer and began work on the PC Game Take No Prisoners. I worked as a designer on TNP, HexenWorld and Hexen II: Portal of Praevus. I also did some level design work for Heretic II and for the early stages of Soldier of Fortune.

My father died in April of 1998 and my life was at a crossroads. I decided to leave level design and pursue a position as Raven Software's Project Administrator. I have served Raven in that capacity since then on the Heretic II Enhancement Pack, Soldier of Fortune, Star Trek: Voyager - Elite Force, Elite Force Expansion Pack, Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. I also worked as Project Administrator for Quake IV and X-Men: Legends until my departure from Raven in July of 2004.

Unfortunately, my mother died in May of 2004...one of many reasons (along with my divorce) that led to the aforementioned Raven departure at the end of June, 2004. I've been out searching for myself for the past eight months. I hope I find myself soon. =)

On a lighter note, my current passion is screenwriting. After writing the screenplay for Soldier of Fortune II: Double Helix, I've made it a point to learn as much as I can about the art of screenwriting. I've since completed a horror screenplay entitled "Cold Front," and am working on development of several more ideas. I have no aspirations of winning an Academy Award, but I would like to see my name in lights someday. And on the receiving end of a six figure paycheck... =)

UPDATE: I moved to Houston, Texas in November of 2005 to take a job as a Producer at Pi Studios.
